Melissa Merk

A proud graduate of Council Rock High School and longtime resident of Newtown Township, Melissa Merk understands the values that make our community great – small town charm, vibrant local businesses and a safe welcoming environment for families. In 2010, she made the choice to raise her son here, enjoying countless hours on CRUSA soccer fields, CRNAA baseball fields and Roberts Ridge playground. Several years later, when she and her husband married and joined families, they made the decision to call Newtown home for their four children and two dogs.

Melissa earned her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Rider University and her law degree from Rutgers School of Law – Camden. Melissa’s legal career focused on representing pharmaceutical companies in large mass tort litigation, while her leadership roles required budget management and conflict resolution. She sought out opportunities to mentor newer lawyers and foster a compassionate, inclusive work environment for her team.

In 2022, Melissa joined Kline & Specter in Philadelphia, where she found her passion representing individuals injured by harmful and defective products. Being a plaintiff’s lawyer has been incredibly rewarding for Melissa, allowing her to stand up for people and help them seek justice against large corporations.

Now, Melissa is excited to bring her analytical skills as well as her ability to bring people together to the Newtown Board of Supervisors. A natural team player, Melissa is ready to work collaboratively with residents and fellow board members to keep Newtown moving forward!
